Not a dull cut here--what a great and ingenious mix. Curious about Hot Ice--whether their other Stones covers are as funky as this one. And my God, "A Country Party" has to be the funkiest Chicago soul song I've ever heard . . .

The Hot Ice album is surprisingly consistent, although I think Honky Tonk Women is the best cut. I recently found the “A Country Party” 12-inch in a dusty garage bin for under a buck. I bought it unheard based on the title alone and was blown away by this cut and the flip side (“Red Hot Funk,” which is just as wicked). The vocalist/driving force behind this is Jerline Shelton who was involved with some acts on the De-Lite label (most notably Coffee who had a minor hit with “Slip and Dip”).
